Music Preference and Clustering in Europe

Europe is home to 50 sovereign nations, 23 official languages and 40 bilateral borders. Cultural theorists would describe the region as a melting pot, much like the United States of America. As cultures and blood have mixed, Europe's music preference has become more and more homogenous. Based on 2019 Shazam data, this visualization shows which European countries share similar music preferences as proxied by track overlaps in their respective top 100 music charts. Click on a country to see which other European countries share similar music tastes.

Shazam's T-100 chart data was scraped using Selenium, an open source web testing framework. Likeness between two music charts were calculated using fuzzy string matching.
